Gordon Myers is Of Counsel to Wave Law® and brings the firm expertise in diverse areas of private equity and technology law practice.  Gordon recently retired from a long and distinguished career at International Finance Corporation, the private sector financing arm of the World Bank Group, where he was most recently Chief Counsel and Head, Technology Business Risk.  Immediately prior to this role, he served as Chief Counsel, Technology and Private Equity.  During his 27 years at IFC, Gordon was global legal lead for IFC’s venture capital group; private, venture and impact funds group; cybersecurity, digital assets and data practices; incident response; and intellectual property practices. Among other things, he was IFC’s lawyer for its first venture capital investment, its first spinout of an existing IFC business to the private sector, and established IFC’s framework and governance for its private equity and venture capital fund investments. Gordon was also a core member of the World Bank Group’s Science, Technology and Innovation Global Expert Team; co-headed the IFC Legal Department’s Center for Innovation; and was principal lawyer for IFC’s original Performance Standards, as well as its Operating Principles for Impact Management, and was a member of the Legal Advisory Council of the Institutional Limited Partners Association.

Prior to his career at the IFC, Gordon was in private practice with the prominent New York City law firm of Dewey Ballantine, where he had responsibility for corporate and securities transactions, including tender offers, acquisitions, and private equity investments. His practice at Dewey Ballantine included energy, media, health, technology, and licensing transactions.

Gordon remains active in a variety of activities outside of his practice at Wave Law:

·      He is a frequent speaker and author on technology financing, ethics, private equity, and stewardship issues, including articles on a proposed technology code of conduct for IFC, and an award-winning article on structuring of investment funds investments. 

·      He is a member of the WBG Law, Justice and Development Technology Working Group.

 ·      He continues to act as Special Adviser, Sustainable Technology Practices, for Valoris Stewardship Catalysts, an investment stewardship consulting firm. 

 ·      He also advises the International Senior Lawyers Project, an organization providing pro bono legal services to governments, civil society and social enterprises, on its proposed responsible technology initiative.

Gordon holds an A.B. in Economics (with honors) from Stanford University, an M.B.A. in Finance from The Wharton School, and a J.D. from the Stanford Law School, where he was a member of the Stanford Law Review.
